About Us

The Nrutyashala School of Indian Dance began in 1988 under the direction of Smt. Bela Vasavada. Over the years, Nrutyashala has produced nearly 40 arangetram graduates, as well over 10 years of award-winning FOGANA folk dance teams. Our students have participated on their own in many regional and national folk dance competitions, and brought home trophies to demonstrate their abilities in dance and choreography. As an additional cultural activity, students have the option to participate in choreographing and perfoming traditional folk dances. We welcome students who are willing to learn and dedicate their time to learning Indian classical and folk dance.

Any description of Nrutyashala would not be complete without without mentioning our dedicated staff, parents, volunteers, and our hardworking students. Some of our students started learning at the age of five, while other students who are young at heart started learning at 55.

Nrutyashala’s innovative dance dramas such as Utsav, Madhuvan, and Krishna Anuraag left an impact on Dallas audiences. These presentations are artistic examples of Nrutyashala’s goal to provide unique works of performance for our students and the Dallas community.
